March Meeting: Understand our nervous system to manage stress (A conversation with Latha Subramaniam)

Date: 3/25/2025 7:30 – 8:30pm PST

Understanding our nervous system is crucial for managing stress effectively, as it helps us recognize how our body reacts to challenges and how we can regulate these responses. In a conversation with Latha Subramaniam, a Mindful Parenting Coach, she emphasizes the importance of awareness in shifting from a reactive state to a more balanced and mindful approach. The nervous system, particularly the autonomic nervous system, plays a key role in our stress response, toggling between the fight-or-flight and rest-and-digest states. By practicing mindfulness, deep breathing, and self-regulation techniques, we can train our nervous system to respond to stress with greater resilience. Latha highlights that when parents cultivate this awareness and manage their stress effectively, they set a powerful example for their children, fostering a more harmonious and emotionally balanced family environment.
